Seeing, understanding

There is nothing else

I see art as a means to selfhood, to a better perception of all that resides on the edge of the sayable and beyond categorisation. Hence I am also interested in the psychopathology of art and the means by which art evades the codifications of more scholarly forms of understanding (and misunderstanding). For me, art is a process and the work is endlessly emerging in the making and is only ever completed by a seeing eye.

What lies on the edge of what the statement the representative art object might seem to make also interests me, especially in so far as the work's simple visual value is less than its complete value to artist and viewer.

Perhaps my views and responses are best summed up in my essay on working in Carrara, available on Amazon.
